Frequently Asked Questions

  • People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may have a clear sense of what you want to work on, or you might simply know that something doesn’t feel quite right. You don’t need to be in crisis or have the right words to begin.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or carrying experiences that feel difficult to hold alone, therapy can offer a supportive space to explore this. I aim to offer a warm, welcoming and carefully held space, and I work collaboratively with you to identify what you’re hoping for from therapy and whether working together feels right.

I encourage an initial consultation as a way for us both to get a sense of fit. If I don’t feel I’m able to meet your needs, I will be open about this and support you to think about other options.

  • Trauma can take many forms and doesn’t always relate to a single event. It can include experiences of abuse, violence, or loss, but also longer-term experiences such as relational difficulties, developmental trauma, or feeling unsafe, unseen, or under persistent stress.

My trauma-informed approach recognises that distress often makes sense in the context of a person’s life, relationships, and wider social circumstances. This includes an awareness of how systemic factors such as inequality, discrimination, migration, and experiences of exclusion can shape wellbeing over time. Rather than pathologising responses to trauma, I work with care and curiosity to understand how you have adapted and coped, and to support a sense of safety, meaning, and connection.

  • The first session is a space to begin getting to know each other and to explore what has brought you to therapy. We’ll work at a pace that feels manageable for you, with careful attention to safety and what feels most important to begin with.

  • Before starting therapy, I offer a free 15–20 minute online consultation. This gives us an opportunity to connect, for you to share what you’re looking for support with, and for you to ask any questions you may have. It also allows us to consider together whether working together feels like a good fit.

There’s no obligation to continue beyond this conversation.

  • My standard fee is £55 per session. I reserve a small number of lower-fee spaces for people on low incomes, as part of my commitment to accessibility and social justice, subject to availability.

  • You’re welcome to get in touch via the contact page, email, or phone. I’ll usually respond within a few working days, and we can arrange a free 15–20 minute online consultation if that feels helpful.
